HighLevel review for agencies
What the platform actually includes, where it saves money, and the trade-offs nobody puts on the sales page.

HighLevel (often called GoHighLevel) is an all-in-one sales and marketing platform built around agencies. You get one agency account, and inside it you create sub-accounts, one per client business. Each sub-account has its own CRM, phone numbers, inbox, calendars, websites and automations.
That structure is the main reason agencies pick it. Instead of buying a CRM seat, an email tool, a scheduler and a review tool for every client, you run every client from one login and one bill.
What is included on every plan
HighLevel's pricing page lists the same core feature set on all three plans. The headline items:
- CRM with pipelines, custom dashboards and reporting
- Website and funnel builder, forms, surveys and quizzes
- Booking calendars
- Email and SMS marketing, inbound and outbound calling, and one unified conversations inbox
- Workflow automation
- Social media management and an ad manager
- Online reputation management (review requests and review monitoring)
- Payments and invoicing, courses and communities
- A mobile app and API access
- AI tools for conversations, voice, content, funnels and review replies
Every plan includes unlimited contacts and unlimited users. That matters more than it sounds: many CRMs charge by contact tier or by seat, so costs climb as a client's list grows.
Features marked with an asterisk on the pricing page (conversation AI, voice AI, reviews AI, email, SMS and calling) carry usage-based charges. More on that below.
The three plans in one table
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Sub-accounts | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $97 | $970 | 3 | All core features |
| Unlimited | $297 | $2,970 | Unlimited | Rebill phone and email at cost, basic API |
| Agency Pro | $497 | $4,970 | Unlimited | SaaS Mode, automated sub-account creation, rebilling with markup, advanced API |
Prices are from HighLevel's pricing page, checked October 27, 2026. All three start with a 14-day free trial. HighLevel states there is no long-term contract and you can upgrade, downgrade or cancel from the dashboard.

Where HighLevel earns its keep
Client onboarding. Snapshots let you build one sub-account the way you like it (pipelines, workflows, forms, calendars, funnels) and copy that setup into new client accounts. A new client can start from a working template instead of a blank screen.
Speed-to-lead features. Missed-call text back, automated review requests and appointment reminders are built in. For local service businesses these are often the first things a client notices. We walk through both in missed-call text back and review requests.
One bill instead of five. HighLevel's own FAQ says most users replace their CRM, funnel builder, email marketing software, appointment scheduler, SMS tool and review management software. Whether that saves you money depends on what you pay today, so add up your current stack before you decide.
Reselling. On Unlimited you can pass phone and email costs to clients at cost. On Agency Pro you can add a markup, sell plans through SaaS Mode and have sub-accounts created automatically when someone pays. Details are in reselling HighLevel as SaaS.
The trade-offs
Usage costs sit on top of the plan. Texts, calls, phone numbers, emails and paid AI features are billed from a prepaid wallet. HighLevel's FAQ calls these standard across the industry, which is fair, but it means your monthly bill is not just $97, $297 or $497. Budget for it.
Text messaging needs registration. To send SMS from a US local number, the business has to complete A2P 10DLC brand and campaign registration. HighLevel lists a one-time registration fee and a monthly campaign fee, and approval is not instant. Plan for this before you promise a client texting from day one.
There is a lot of software here. Breadth is the selling point and also the learning curve. Expect to spend real time on your first sub-account. HighLevel offers support, a snapshot library and paid setup help, but someone on your team still has to own the build.
Starter's three sub-accounts go fast. If you plan to sign more than two or three clients, Starter is a trial run. The jump to Unlimited is $200 a month.
Who should use it
- Agencies serving local service businesses (home services, dental, med spa, fitness, real estate) that want one repeatable client setup
- Consultants and coaches who want CRM, booking, email, texting, courses and payments in one place
- Agencies that want to package software plus service as a monthly retainer
Who should skip it
- A single business that only needs email newsletters. A dedicated email tool will be simpler and probably cheaper.
- Teams already deep in a CRM like HubSpot or Salesforce with custom objects, integrations and reporting they rely on. Migration is real work. Compare costs first: HighLevel vs HubSpot cost comparison.
- Anyone who wants software that runs itself. HighLevel gives you the parts; you still design the funnels, write the messages and maintain the automations.
Our take
If you run, or want to run, an agency for local businesses, HighLevel is the platform we would test first. The pricing is flat where it counts (contacts and users), the client sub-account model fits agency work, and the core local-business automations are built in. Go in knowing that usage charges and SMS registration are part of the real cost, and use the 14-day trial to build one complete client account before you commit.
